Getting Started with
Private Toolbox

A professional collection of NinjaTrader 8 indicators and drawing tools for serious futures traders. Follow this guide to get up and running in minutes. Everything after the install — updates, licensing and the common fixes — lives in the help centre.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have everything ready before installing.

Active CoderForTraders subscription
The download page checks the address your license was set up under before releasing the installer
NinjaTrader 8 installed
Download free from ninjatrader.com if needed
NinjaTrader 8 is CLOSED
Do not install while NT8 is running
The email address your license was set up under

Download the installer

The installer comes from the protected download page — it asks you to confirm your email address. No sign-in needed.

The installer isn't public — it's tied to your license. Before it hands over the file, the download page asks you to confirm your email address. Type the address your license was set up under: if you subscribed on the website, that's the one you entered at checkout; if Bernard set you up by hand, it's the address you gave him. If the first one isn't accepted, try the other. Keep your download to yourself.

Get the installer

Type your email address, then click Get the installer.

Your browser will most likely hold the file and ask you to confirm the download before it finishes. That's expected: the installer isn't code-signed, so your browser can't vouch for who published it. The prompt looks different from browser to browser — whichever one you get, choose the option that keeps the file, usually Keep or Keep anyway.

The installer lands in your Downloads folder:

CFTPT_Setup_vx.x.x.x.exe
Your customer portal is separate from the download — it's your account area for your card, invoices and subscription, and you don't need it to download or run the tools. Zoho sends you a separate invitation email to set your portal password (check your spam folder if you don't see it). When you sign in, use your CoderForTraders billing email — the address you pay with, not your NinjaTrader account email: https://portal.coderfortraders.com/client

Run the installer

The installer copies the toolbox package to your Downloads folder.

Locate the downloaded file

Open your Downloads folder and find CFTPT_Setup_vx.x.x.x.exe

Run as normal user

Double-click the installer. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.

No administrator rights required — the installer runs under your user account only.

Follow the setup wizard

Click through the welcome screen. The installer will automatically copy the toolbox zip file to your Downloads folder:

C:\Users\[YourName]\Downloads\CFTPT_Private_Toolbox_x.x.x.x.zip
When installation completes, you'll see instructions for the next step — importing into NinjaTrader.
macOS users: NinjaTrader 8 runs on Windows only. To use the Private Toolbox on macOS, you need to run NinjaTrader 8 inside a Windows virtual machine (Parallels, VMware Fusion, or Boot Camp).

Switch to your Windows environment

Open your Windows virtual machine or restart into Boot Camp before proceeding.

Download and run the installer inside Windows

Follow the same steps as the Windows instructions above. Open the download page in the Windows browser, confirm your email address and get the installer, then run it inside Windows.

Import into NinjaTrader 8

Use NinjaTrader's built-in import tool to install the toolbox.

Make sure NinjaTrader 8 is fully closed before starting this step. If NT8 is already running, close it now.

Open NinjaTrader 8

Launch NinjaTrader 8 from your desktop or Start menu.

Navigate to Import NinjaScript

In the NinjaTrader Control Center, follow this path:

Select the zip file

A file browser will open. Navigate to your Downloads folder and select:

CFTPT_Private_Toolbox_x.x.x.x.zip

Click Open.

Restart NinjaTrader — twice

Close NinjaTrader completely and reopen it: the tools only load at startup. Then close it and start it once more. On that first start the toolbox quietly puts its own skin, trading-hours templates and workspaces into place, and the second start is what makes NinjaTrader pick them up. It happens in the background, so there is nothing to click and nothing to confirm — but both starts matter, so don't stop at the first one.

The Private Toolbox is now installed. License activation happens automatically on the next step.

License activation

Enter the email address your license was set up under.

After NinjaTrader restarts with the Private Toolbox installed, a license activation window will appear automatically.

Type the address your license was set up under — the same one from the checklist in step 01. If you subscribed on the website, that's the one you entered at checkout; if Bernard set you up by hand, it's the address you gave him. Enter it exactly as it was given, capitalization and spacing included.

This may not be the address you pay with. If you have more than one address with us and the first one isn't accepted, type the other one. If neither is accepted, or the window never appeared at all, the help centre has the full answer: License activation: which email address do I enter?

Activation complete

The toolbox saves the address and uses it to check your subscription when it looks for a new version. The indicators and drawing tools themselves are licensed separately, to your NinjaTrader account — that part is set up for you and needs nothing here.

The Private Toolbox is ready. Your tools appear in your regular NinjaTrader 8 Indicators and Drawing Tools lists, under the CFT_Private_ToolBox names.

Updates

The Private Toolbox tells you when a new version is out. It does not install it for you.

Every time NinjaTrader 8 launches, the Private Toolbox checks quietly in the background for a new version, and lets you know when there is one. Installing it is not the same job as a first install — there is an old version to remove first, and the order of the steps matters. The current steps live in the help centre, where they are kept up to date with every release:

Troubleshooting

The one that happens during the install itself — and where to find the rest.

Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer +

Windows SmartScreen may flag the installer because it's newly published software. This is expected. To proceed:

  1. Click More info on the SmartScreen dialog
  2. Click Run anyway
This warning disappears as more users install the software and Windows builds trust for the publisher.
